Just a note: I didn’t realize how long this post was going to be until I finished it. Some of you will love me for it, and some of you may hate me. Either way, you may want to take a bathroom break and grab a snack before you start reading.
Also, for some reason, if I made the pictures any bigger, they got fuzzy. Maybe I overwhelmed poor Blogger.
We were planning to head up to Washington anyway, but when we found out that Ryan had a job interview in Georgia, we decided to go up early so he could fly out of Seattle. That way I wasn’t alone while he was gone.
My parents have an elementary school at the end of their street, so every time we went outside Nathan would yell, “slide!” and run off down the sidewalk.
I have some pictures of my mom going down the slide too (Nana will do anything for Nathan) but I’m pretty sure she’d kill me if I posted them.
While Ryan was in Georgia, I got in some good “girl” time with my mom and Leslie. We spent some time at the mall and let Nathan play.
He kept pretending that this hippo was eating him. He would crawl in it’s mouth, then get out and walk around spitting and gagging. Apparently he doesn’t think he tastes very good.
Look at that face! Imagine how happy he’ll be when we actually put quarters in them!
Nathan and I went to the Point Defiance Zoo with my parents and Leslie. Ryan was in Georgia, so I took a ton of pictures.
A shark!
We got a great lesson all about the peacock from the guy at the ice cream cart next to him. I guess you learn a lot no matter where in the zoo you work.
Nathan loved the walruses and even came home with a little stuffed one, thanks to Nana.
Nathan and pretty Leslie shared a giant ice cream cone.
The zoo had a fun kids zone, complete with petting zoo.
Here’s Nathan going through the same tube exactly one year ago.
He was so funny. He wanted me to lift him up so he could look through the binoculars, but I noticed that every time he put his eyes up to them , he squeezed his eyes shut. He’ll figure it out eventually . . .
I feel bad for the kid that was on the slide when it broke . . .
Believe it or not, you can scroll down to see part two of our adventure.

I want to go to the park with the slide and to the zoo too - this grandma can be fun too!!
