Bryce Canyon

I think most of you have already read the post that Ryan wrote about Bryce Canyon on his blog http://econandlife.blogspot.com/ but I thought I would add my perspective and a few more pictures.

Against my better judgement, we packed up and headed down to Bryce Canyon last weekend. I was unsure about going because we are moving to Oregon this weekend and will already be spending a lot of time in the car and also because we had never been camping with Nathan before, plus, camping is just a lot of work (like five extra loads of laundry). But I was easily won over by the fact that this would be our last opportunity to see Ryan's family before we left and we wanted his sister Janelle to meet Nathan and we wanted to meet her husband, Dan. So, away we went. It was a lot of fun to go and see the canyon and hang out with family. We had a rough night with Nathan and all three of us ended up sleeping in the car but the camping trip gave us the opportunity to unwind a little and Ryan and I got to spend a ton of quality time together in the car. Since I feel like we haven't even seen each other lately, I was happy to spend some time laughing with him and being silly together after too much stress and too many hours in the car. Here's a few pictures from our trip:

The car trip would have been far worse if Nathan hadn't helped so much with the driving.

The canyon. So neat!

I'm wearing sunglasses so you can't see the giant bags under my eyes! Or, maybe it was just sunny that day . . .

One very tired family (this was taken after our sleepless night). If Nathan wasn't so cute, we would have sold him a long time ago.

Marshmallow girls! Our nieces Kallie and Andi got a little too silly with their s'mores. Look at them posing!

Ryan, Nathan, and Jarin. Nathan got a lot of love from his cousins!

Michael and Ryan with Nathan. Probably talking about Economics. Poor Nathan has no chance.
I take it back. They were not probably talking about econ, they definitely were!

We are so lucky to have such wonderful family!
If anyone else has more pictures, I want them!

Since we are moving this weekend, you probably won't be hearing from me for a while. I hope you all can handle it. I'll get back to blogging once we are settled in Oregon. I'm sure I will have lots to say. Wish us luck!

Should I Be Getting Nervous?

Today I set Nathan down to play on the floor.

A few minutes later this is where he ended up.

Look how proud he is! Should I be getting nervous?

There's a Reason We Call Him Bubba

We took Nathan to the doctor yesterday for his four month appointment. Here are the results:

18 lbs 1 oz (94%)
26.5 inches (93%)
and his head is 42.7 (61%)

No wonder my back is killing me by the end of the day!

4 Months Old

Today Nathan is 4 months old! He is growing up so fast! He really is a big boy, in size and personality. Here's what our little man is up to:

Nathan has started grabbing and holding onto everything. He loves to play with his toys.

Nathan loves to talk and "read" books. This one is very serious. I can't believe how vocal he is. Sometimes I'm shocked by what he has to say!

Nathan is a big baseball fan. At least, that's what Ryan keeps telling him.

Nathan loves to stand up and use his legs. He is really strong! This weekend we let him use his "big boy" duck tub for the first time so he would have more room to stretch out and play. He loved it! Here he is testing it out before the bath. Doesn't he look so relaxed?

Nathan also got to try rice cereal for the first time this weekend. We made it really thin so he wouldn't be too terrified.

He loved it! Not that I was surprised. What can I say? The kid loves to eat!

The poor kid is definitely teething so he always either has his fingers in his mouth . . .

or his tongue hanging out!

Nathan can't sit up by himself yet but he is really sturdy and good at sitting with a little help. He has also started scooting a little. When he gets excited he digs in his heels and away he goes! Here he is looking like a big boy at our "photo shoot" today.

We go see the doctor on Wednesday and I expect him to tell us that Nathan is huge. I'll let you know what happens!
